Places to see before you die| Places to see before you die ... |

Be honest – when thinking about England, most peple think of its capital. Almost everybody who has been to the UK paid London a visit. That´s great, the city has undenyably a lot to give (and to take – especially one´s money). But what other places has the island to offer? Oxford, Cambridge with its marvelous colleges and its university tradion, alright, fair enough, beautiful cities but hardly insider tips ... I am speaking about places, travel guides are not dedicating half of their entries to. Through my time here, I had the opportunity to discover some places, which I consider of extraordinary beauty. Hidden gems like Stamford with its ancient city core and its proximity to lovely Burghley House. I also rate Norwich quite high in my internal ranking. It might not be the navel of the world but the city itself is wonderfully down-to-earth with good shopping opportunites and a fascinating atmosphere after sunset. Furthermore on my list of places to see is Chester located not far away from Liverpool. A walk around the city wall is clearly an eyecatcher, the full circuit measuring nearly 2 miles, and even if one doesn´t like the view of one side, the other side of the wall certainly makes up for it! The Eastgate Clock, by the way, is said to be the most photographed clock in England after the one at the tower of Big Ben. What places do you consider to be worth visiting?
